ABOUT US:

In 1994, when we decided to make mid-life career changes, we left our life-long roots in North Carolina and began roaming the West.  New Mexico appealed to Sherrie, but Hamp pleaded for an ecosystem that included "green" and tall trees. During one of our treks West we visited friends in Pueblo who introduced us to a community that offered the amenities we were searching for: wide-open spaces with grand mountain views, a reasonably-sized community with a viable, healthy economy, unexpectedly delightful weather, an interesting blend of cultures, good people and lovely Beulah with lots of tall trees and remarkable views of the Greenhorn Mountains (hence the name of our company) only 20 minutes away.  We were smitten!

We are supporters of the Pueblo community... members of the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and PEDCO.

Greenhorn Builders has been building in the Pueblo area since 1995 - 12 years and during that time we've constructed about 120 custom homes.

We have 5 married children, 3 bright, beautiful granddaughters and 1 terrific golden retriever!  Our extended family includes a Ukrainian godson and a Russian goddaughter who we manage to visit fairly frequently.  Non-fiction books and biographies are our favorites and when we can manage the time, we strike out for remote, exotic, "road-less -traveled" haunts around the world.

Our Mission Statement is simple: We engage with our clients in a pleasant custom building experience in order to create a distinctive, quality home - .specific to their needs and dreams. Our clients are encouraged, indeed,  expected to be involved in the design of their home and we do our best to implement their desires within their budgets.

We are not tract home or high volume builders. And we typically build about 8 custom homes and one Parade of Homes entry each year. We're proud of the fact that in 12 years we have never built identical products.  Though we build many and varied custom designs, we seem to be well known for our southwestern, Santa-Fe-style home designs which incorporate authentic, aesthetic features such as vigas, latillas, corbels, hand-carved posts, plastered Kiva fireplaces, courtyards and tile-covered portales.
